Information from e-LisoSAT
e-LisoSAT is proud to announce a new partnership with Space Commerical Services which aims to make geospatially aware services available to a wider audience. In addition e-LisoSAT's new venture, SafetyNET, aims to provide South Africa with a coordinated safety solution through the Community Policing Forums.
Boost from investment

e-LisoSAT has hooked up with Space Commercial Services (SCS), a company put together by former SunSpace executives focused on the utilisation of space infrastructure, to make geospatial information available to a much wider audience.
SCS was formed in response to the need to leverage the unique properties of satellite based infrastructure for cost effective provision of geospatial information and satellite telecommunication services for all areas of South Africa and Africa. The founding members of SCS are Dr. Sias Mostert and Ferdi Herbst, who are both based in the Western Cape.
High quality geospatially referenced information is required for efficient service delivery across South Africa. The challenge has always been how to provide ubiquitous services for all areas, including under-serviced areas. The answers to the challenge lie both at high-level decision making on the one hand and in consumer-based location aware services.
SCS is excited about the software developed by e-LisoSAT to make geospatially aware services available to a far wider audience, bringing it within reach of every consumer in South Africa. The competency and vision of e-LisoSAT was the drawcard right from the start. The company has combined geospatial information with easy-to-use delivery platforms suitable for a wide variety of applications. e-LisoSAT supports the GIS industry through geocoding services, satellite imagery and aerial photography sales. It has set the standard on how to make geospatial information available to a wider audience.
In conjunction with high quality demographic information from AfricaScope, a new set of decision making information is now available to the industry through easy-to-use platforms.
Community safety

With e-LisoSAT’s stronger driving force we realised that we could contribute to our communities even in tough economic times. But to do this we needed to start thinking outside the box!
What could a predominantly GIS and imagery company do to contribute to a better South Africa?
In line with this e-LisoSAT formed a new company, SafetyNET Group, which is directly responsible for the social upliftment and safety of every person in South Africa through the Community Policing Forums (CPF) nationally. We started our roll-out in the Lyttelton police precinct and this pilot project has been accepted and welcomed by the community as well as the CPF and SAPS.
Currently SafetyNET is working on the total roll-out for Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Western Cape. A national Web-based network has been established which utilises our own in-house developed software ComSUITE & Community Administration System (CAS) and which receives support from our subsidiary companies TrackLocate (for tracking solutions) and e-LisoSAT for GIS services and imagery.
We have formed partnerships and secured supplier agreements with the likes of Geo Vision, and the security industries to provide a total coordinated safety solution which complies with the CPF and SAPS laws in every corner of South Africa.
Our aim is to provide sustainability to the CPFs enabling seamless communication between the SAPS, security companies, businesses and the community. Other value-added services will include a SAPS/CPF contact point in your direct area with FICA and RICA services, fax/copy/scan, security products, radios, SMS and internet, office for the sector management, coordination and overseeing of security companies. All of this with the buy-in of the SAPS/CPF and community initiatives thereby creating a sustainable solution. SafetyNet resides in a Section 21 Public Beneficiary Organisation (PBO) company under the management of the community for the community.
e-LisoSAT is calling for GIS and service delivery companies to get involved in the fight against poverty, crime and poor service delivery in your community. We require funding, data and support to assist your local community. Contact us today to discuss how you can get involved.
