2008 Electricity Distribution Maintenance Summit

Hosted by the Department of Minerals and Energy (DME) and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA), in partnership with EDI Holdings, SALGA and Eskom, and in association with EE Publishers.

This Summit will focus on the sustainability of the Electricity Distribution Industry in respect of:

  • Capital expenditure, investment and funding
  • Operations, maintenance, refurbishment and asset management
  • Testing and condition monitoring
  • Human resource and skills development

The Summit will review the outcomes, resolutions and subsequent progress made after the previous Maintenance Summit hosted by the DME and NER in 2003, and will refocus the attention of all relevant stakeholders on this critical portion of the electricity supply chain.

The objectives and outcomes of the Summit will be to update and fomalise a new set of resolutions and action plans, in an inclusive and participatory process, to ensure that the Electricity Distribution Industry is ready to deliver and perform to meet the expectations of customers and the needs of the economy.

An exhibition to be held concurrently with the Summit will bring public and private sector participants together, and showcase the various technologies, products, systems and services available from local and international sources that are available to help the Electricity Distribution Industry meet these needs.
