Altech Netstar has launched a new personal security and recovery service called Guardian. The product consists of a hand-held locator, backed up by the company’s nationwide tracking and recovery service infrastructure. Pressing the panic button activates the service. The precise location of the hand-held locator is then sent through to the control centre, from where ground and air recovery teams are dispatched to the client’s rescue. The product locator operates on GPS/GSM technology. The device is smaller than a cellphone, so it fits easily into any pocket or handbag. It is said to be easily programmable with a simple set of essential features needed to enhance the user’s safety and peace of mind. Some of the main features include a quick dial function, a key lock and unlock function and an emergency SMS alert to assigned contact phone numbers. When the park function is enabled the product is able to detect any unauthorised movement of the device. It then sends a GSM text message to the assigned contact phone numbers alerting the recipients to the unauthorised movement.
