ESASA other activities

Other activities of ESASA include:

  • ESASA is a participating member of several SABS committees and working groups dealing with low voltage and medium voltage installations, circuit breakers, residual current devices, distribution boards and earthing practices.
  • ESASA is a member of the South African Electrotechnical Sector Board. This board is tasked to advise the Divisional Director of STANSA on policies and priorities relating to standards, and to act as the South African national committee of the IEC.
  • Lobbying at institutional level (SABS, DOL, DTI, etc.) and at political level (trade consuls, embassies and political trade forums).
  • ESASA is a member of the Electrical Standards Generating Body and is closely involved on behalf of panel manufacturers in the development of Unit Standards for the training of the industry, and ultimately a national qualification in terms of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
  • ESASA will also co-ordinate a number of training programmes for the industry.
  • Actively promoting Networking among members, end users, consultants and specifiers.
  • The development and introducition of a Quality Management System for members to ensure that they comply with the law and regulations
