TSMA, a company providing education and training in the geomatics industry across various disciplines and sectors, has announced the conclusion of a strategic black economic empowerment (BEE) partnership with Joe Shibambo and the Hlamalane Group of Companies. Hlamalane will become a 26% shareholder in TSMA, effective 1 September 2009. Joe Shibambo, CEO of the Hlamalane Group, has been involved in the construction industry since 1979 where he gained invaluable knowledge in building construction, construction management, property development and the implementation of BEE development programmes. Shibambo was the first black independent residential developer to start a “greenfields” township development and he is the first independent contractor to build a shopping centre in Soweto.
"Joe Shibambo and Hlamalane were chosen because of their experience and involvement in the wider construction and mining arena and their ability to add their expertise to TSMA,” says Kobus Bezuidenhout, TSMA COO. “Shibambo's enthusiasm and commitment and his vision and approach to business is in line with our goal of being a leader in geomatics training and development and to address the skills shortage in this and related industries. He will add great value to all areas of our operational performance and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
