The AMEU Affiliates Golf Day took place on what was probably the coldest day of the year 27 June 2007, snow had fallen the night before and covered the fairways of Killarney Country Club in a beautiful white carpet. All our fourballs arrived wondering if we were not going to cancel the day. Aberdare Cables and Beka had sponsored holes and because of the cold weather had provided various drinks and snacks which kept the players warm and happy. The evening function went off well, with Richard Frantz presenting the winning team from Schneider Electric, comprising of Gerald Brown, Johan Russouw, Hanu Thompson and Gerhard Steyn taking first place. A total of 22 fourballs took part in the golf day. Companies that sponsored fourballs were Schneider Electric, Power Process Systems, BEKA, Genlux, NuLec, Lighting Structures, CBI Electric African Cables, Alstom Electrical and Alstom Siyaka, ABB Powertech Transformers, Aberdare Cables, Landis & Gyr, Baymont, Merz & McLellan, Rotek Engineering, City Power and TIS.
